Word was received at Long Branch last week of the death of John V. Kolb of that place, which occurred at Stubach, Germany, on August 6th. Mr. Kolb had been a sufferer for many years from Bright's disease and dropsy. Last May he went abroad with the hope of recuperating his health, expecting to return home in November. The change did him no good and he continued to grow steadily worse until his death. Mr. Kolb was traveling alone in Germany and the news of his death did not reach Long Branch until it came through official sources.

Mr. Kolb was born in Germany, near the place where he died. He came to this country in 1868. Four years later he located at Long Branch, where he had since engaged in the restaurant business. When he went abroad he turned the business over to his son-in-law, Herman K. Emmons. Three children survive him. They are Mrs. Herman K. Emmons, Mrs. Frank Hennessey and Miss Georgie Kolb of Long Branch. Mrs. Kolb died about fourteen years ago. Mr. Kolb was a member of the New Era society and of the Knights of Pythias lodge.
