Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Mrs. Mary A. Denison
|
Mrs. Mary A. Denison died of apoplexy on Wednesday, March 27th, at the home of her nephew, John G. Wightman of Stafford Hollow, Connecticut.
She was 78 years old. Mrs. Denison was well known throughout Monmouth county. Her husband taught school in Red Bank in the early days of
the town, when but one man teacher was employed. He taught in the old frame building on the Mechanic street lot. Mrs. Denison taught the
girls of the public school in a small building on the Episcopal church lot on Front street. This building has since been converted into a
dwelling and moved to White street, where it is now owned by the Hatfield sisters. She also taught private schools for many years in Red
Bank. She leaves no children, her nearest surviving relatives being two brothers. She leaves several more distant relatives at Ocean Grove.
