Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - William H. Gulick
|
William H. Gulick of Freehold died on Wednesday of general debility, aged 62 years. He contracted disease while in the army in the
civil war and had never been well since that time. He was able to engage in business but at frequent intervals he would be taken
down with sickness so severe that it was thought that each recurrence of the attack would cause his death.
Mr. Gulick was the son of Thomas Gulick and he was born on the homestead farm near Turkey. At the breaking out of the civil war he
enlisted in the engineer corps of the army of the Potomac. On his return he remained on the farm with his father and upon his father's
death he took charge of the farm. In 1889 he gave up farming and engaged in the sale of agricultural implements and fertilizers at Freehold.
He gave up this business about a year ago on account of failing health.
Mr. Gulick never married. He is survived by a sister, Miss Lydia Gulick, who kept house for him, and by a brother, Joseph Gulick of Middletown.
