Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - George J. Dettlinger

George J. Dettlinger, a native of Germany but for the past 45 years a resident of Long Branch, died at the latter place on Tuesday night of last week, aged 64 years. He had been sick for a year with Bright's disease, but his death was hastened by an attack of the grip. He was a gardener by occupation. For a number of years he was employed by the late Michael M. VanDyke of Branchport and later by John E. Pye of the same place. For some time previous to his death he had worked for Washington Wilson at Ellberon. He had been a member of the Odd Fellows lodge of Long Branch for 35 years. He leaves a wife and five children. The children are Mrs. George W. Hennessy of North Long Branch, Mrs. Joseph N. Flanagan, and Sydney, Fred and George Dettlinger.
