Mrs. Lewis White Died Last Saturday

She Was One of the Oldest residents of Red Bank and Was Eighty-One Years of Age-She Was Sick Only a Week

Lydia, wife of Lewis White of Herbert street, died on Saturday, aged 81 years. Her death was caused by paralysis and by a general breaking up of her health. She had been in failing health for some time past but she retained her faculties to a remarkable degree for one of her age. She and her husband lived together, and Mrs. White took care of her house. She was confined to her bed just a week from the time she was taken sick until her death.

Mrs. White was the daughter of Sarah and Jacob Nivison and was born May 13th, 1819. She had lived at Red Bank a great many years. Mrs. White joined the Presbyterian church when quite young and she was a very willing worker in the church in her younger years. She had not been able to attend church for several years on account of her enfeebled condition and meetings were held at her house from time to time by members of the church. Mrs. White was of a very kind and lovable disposition and she leaves many friends.

Mrs. White had three children. The only one living is Dr. Charles H. White of Shrewsbury. The others were Mary Frances White, who died when quite young, and Larue Nivison White, who died a few years ago.

The funeral was held at half-past one o'clock at the house on Tuesday and at two o'clock at the Presbyterian church. Rev. S. H. Thompson officiated and the body was buried in Fair View cemetery. The pall bearers were Theodore F. Sniffen, L. P. Conklin, John W. Mount and William J. Sickles.
