Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Cornelius Pease

Cornelius Pease of Middletown died of stomach trouble on Tuesday of last week, after a sickness of two weeks. He was 78 years old. Previous
to his last sickness he was active for one of his years and made two trips from his home to the village every day. Mr. Pease was born at
Robertsville, in Marlboro township, but had lived at Middletown ever since he was a young man. He served in the civil war with the 29th
regiment and was a pensioner. He married Miss Catherine Herbert, daughter of the late John Herbert of Middletown. She survives him and
he also leaves two sons and two daughters . The children are Herbert Pease of Middletown, John Pease of Keansburg, Mrs. James McKenzie of
Brooklyn, and Miss Cora Pease, who lives at home.
The funeral was held on Thursday at the house and was conducted by Rev. P. K. Hageman, pastor of the Reformed church. The bearers
were William Irwin, George Luyster, William Story and William T. Castler. The body was buried in Green Grove cemetery at Keyport.
