|
John Johnson of Tinton Falls was found dead in bed on Thursday morning by George Greenwood, who farms Mr. Johnson's place. His death was caused by apoplexy. Mr. Johnson had been in his usual health and the afternoon before his death he drove to Red Bank. He attended to some business and when he retired at night nothing unusual was noticed. When Mr. Greenwood went to his room to call him the next morning he found him dead in bed.
Mr. Johnson was born in England in 1818. He came to this country over fifty years ago. He worked at the machinist trade at New York for some time and he then bought the Haggerty farm and moved to Tinton Falls, where he had since lived. The farm contains about ninety acres. Mr. Johnson was a very prosperous farmer and he was well known and liked throughout Monmouth county. Mr. Johnson's wife died about fifteen years ago. He leaves no children. The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon and the body was buried at Shrewsbury.
Mr. Johnson had a number of relatives both in this country and in England. He had an adopted son, who is now in New York. Mr. Johnson became estranged from his adopted son some years ago. Mr. Johnson's brother Frank died about two years ago, leaving two sons and two daughters. These are Mr. Johnson's nearest surviving blood relations in this country, but he leaves many relatives in England.
(Per Death Notice Mr. Johnson was aged 88 years)
