Aged Couple Die Together
John Richdale and Wife Die Within Three Hours of Each Other
After living together for 54 years John Richdale and his wife, Ann Richdale, died the same day last week within three hours of
each other. Their deaths occurred on Wednesday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. J. A. Gutteridge of Newark. Mr. Richdale
died of gastritis and Mrs. Richdale died of apoplexy. Mr. Richdale was 78 years old and his wife was 83 years old. They had
often expressed the wish that they might die together.
Three sons and two daughters survive the couple. The sons are J. C. Richdale of the Phalanx, J. P. Richdale of Little Silver
and G. H. Richdale, an electrical engineer at Brooklyn. The daughters are Susan, wife of James Hawks of Brooklyn; and Mary,
wife of J. A. Gutteridge of Newark.
