Suing For Her Husband's Death

Mrs. Catherine Brookes of Oakhurst has brought suit against the Consolidated gas company of Long Branch for $25,000 damages for the death of her husband, John Brookes. Mr. Brookes was painting the Elias Asiel cottage at Elberon last winter when he grabbed an electric light wire to balance himself. The wire was charged and Mr. Brookes was instantly killed. Mrs. Brookes claims that the wire was not properly insulated and that the current had been ordered turned off at the cottage several days before the accident happened.
