Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - James H. Bedle
|
James H. Bedle, a life-long resident of Keyport died at that place on Saturday, May
10th, aged 64 years. Death was caused by heart disease, superinduced(sp) by stomach trouble. Mr. Bedle
was one of the pioneer oysterplanters of Keyport and he amassed a comfortable fortune in that business. He
was also a shipbuilder by trade. He had served as a member of the board of education of Keyport and as
director of the Keyport banking company. He is survived by a wife and two married sons, Anthony and James
H. Bedle, Jr. Mrs. Bedle is in a sanitarium at New York, where she underwent an operation a few weeks ago
for the removal of a cancer. She is improving in health but she was unable to attend her husband's funeral.
Six brothers and two sisters also survive Mr. Bedle. They are Albert, William, Melville and Asbury F. Bedle
of Keyport, Thomas Bedle of Englishtown, Septimius Bedle of Glenwood, Long Island; Mrs. J. P. Coleman and
Miss Vienna Bedle of Chicago.
