Mrs. Jeanette (Compton) Morris Dies At the Age of 86 Years

She Was Born at Belford But Had Lived at Keyport Nearly All Her Life

Mrs. Jeanette Morris, widow of Lewis Morris of Keyport, died on Friday at the home of her son, Lewis Morris of Jersey city. Death was due to paralysis, with which she was stricken a few days before her death. She was 86 years old.

Mrs. Morris was the daughter of Job Compton of Belford. She was born at Belford but the greater part of her life was spent at Keyport. Two years ago she went to Jersey City to live with her son. Mrs. Morris was the last member of her family. She had three brothers and five sisters. They were Cornelius, John and Joseph Compton, Mrs. Joseph Willett, Mrs. Eliza Mains, Mrs. Phoebe Stout, Mrs. Catherine Palmer and Mrs. Bennett Walling. Mrs. Morris's only child is the son at whose home she died.

Mrs. Morris's body was taken to Keyport on Sunday and the funeral was held in the Baptist church, of which Mrs. Morris had been a member nearly all her life. The funeral sermon by Rev. J. L. Coote was from a text that Mrs. Morris had chosen several years before her death, the words being "And now Lord what wait I for? My hope is in Thee."
