Mrs. Phoebe E. Vanderveer, widow of Cornelius Vanderveer, died at Long Branch on Saturday, September 26th, aged 76 years. Death was due to gastritis, with which she had been sick two weeks. She was a daughter of Capt. Robert Allen and was born at Middletown, but the greater part of her life had been spent at Long Branch. Two daughters and a son survive her. They are Mrs. John A. Howland and Lizzie T. and Frank Vanderveer, all of Long Branch. She also leaves a brother, Capt. Charles Allen. She was a member of St. James's church of Long branch and president of the guild connected with the church. Her body was buried in Fair view cemetery.
