Obituaries - NJ - 1901 - Charles E. Davison
|
Charles E. Davison, proprietor of the hotel at Manalapan, died suddenly of heart disease on Saturday, September 1st. He visited his
daughter at Jamesburg the day of his death and seemed in his usual good health. He retired early in the evening. Shortly after
getting in bed he began to breathe heavily and in a few minutes he was dead. He was sixty years old. He was a son of Mary and
John Davison and was born in the parsonage of old Tennent church. The greater part of his life was spent as a farmer, but about
eight years ago he gave up farming and took charge of the Manalapan hotel.
Mr. Davison was twice married. His first wife was Rebecca F. Snedeker and by her he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Archie Voorhees of
Hazlet. His second wife was Frances J. Tilton, widow of Forman Tilton, who survives him. Eight children were the result of his
second union, four of whom are living. He leaves also two sisters, Mrs. Ella Davison, widow of Joseph Davison of Freehold; and Mrs.
Jacob O. Lanbertson of Hazlet.
