Died From An Injury

Harry W. Walling of Matawan Meets a Tragic Death

Harry E. Walling, son of Spafford W. Walling of Matawan township, died on Monday of last week as the result of an injury sustained the previous Wednesday. He was employed as fireman on the steamboat Fleming, which plies between New York and Newark. While oiling the engine the boat was run into and the sudden jar threw him into the revolving machinery, breaking his left leg. The leg was amputated, but gangrene set in and caused his death. Mr. Walling was 25 years old. A wife and one child survive him. He leaves also a sister, Mrs. A. N. Lambertson of Matawan.
