Elisha T. Smith of Long Branch died on Saturday, January 18th, aged 72 years. Death was due to a complication of diseases and he had been sick for several months. Mr. Smith was born at West Long Branch and had always lived in that vicinity. He married Ellen Reed, daughter of Hugh Reed of Long Branch. She survives him and he also leaves six children. The children are William, John, Hugh, Estelle, Catherine and Jennie Smith. He leaves also a sister, Mrs. William F. West, and three half brothers and three half sisters. For a good many years Mr. Smith had been caretaker of Gen. T. T. Eckert's place at Elberon.
