Fred Wellman, 76, a 60-year resident of Old Bridge, died Thursday,
July 24, 1969, at St. Peter's General Hospital. He resided at 10 Sheridan Ave.
Mr. Wellman was born in Germany and came to the United States at the
age of 10. After his retirement from Anheuser-Busch, Old Bridge, he spent six
years in Florida and then returned to Old Bridge several years ago.
He was a Gold Card honorary member of the Old Bridge Fire Department
and past assistant chief of the Department. He also was a member of the Old
Bridge Baptist Church.
Mr. Wellman was the husband of the late Mary Etta (Tice) Wellman.
Surviving are three sons, Carlton, Old Bridge, with whom he lived;
Russell, South River, and Warren, Scotsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Eckman Funeral
Home, Spotswood. Interment was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Old Bridge.
Please note: Most references in the above Obit. refer to the East Brunswick
Township section called Old Bridge. Old Bridge Township was still named
Madison Township at this time and these places are in the area known as the
Historic Village area of Old Bridge.
