OLD RESIDENT PASSES AWAY CHRIST WEIMER DIED SUNDAY OF PNEUMONIA AGED 73 YEARS
Christ Weimer, a well known resident of this city for over a half of century,
died at the family home, 185 Poplar Avenue, Sunday morning about 6 o'oclock. Death was due
to pneumonia. He was 73 years of age.
The deceased was born in Germany February 15, 1837. He came to America when 15
years old and settled in Brier Hill. He was employed for many years in the
coal mines of this section. At the time of his illness, Mr. Weimer was working in the Union
Mill of the Carnegie Steel Company. He was married when he was about 21 years old. His
wife with the following children, survive: Mrs. Rachel Newman, Mrs. Charles Klein, Mrs.
Julius Dammann, and William Weimer, who is a city policeman. He also leaves two brothers, David and Joseph.
Mr. Weimer was one of the oldest and most faithful members of the Martin
Luther Church. In the community in which he lived for so many years, the deceased
was widely known and highly regarded. The funeral will be held from the family home, 185 Poplar Ave., Tuesday
afternoon at 1:30 and later from the Martin Luther Church. Interment will be made in Oak Hill Cemetery.
