Our beloved mother and grandmother, Lucille
Castro Camacho, 92 years old, a devout and genuine Christian who was
dedicated to her Saviour, was called to her heavenly home on May 1,
2001. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe Ned
Camacho, former Killeen councilman. She is survived by two daughters,
Gloria Moreno and her husband Tony of Austin, and Emily Thirstrup and
her husband Larry, of Slidell, Louisiana. Also one loving brother,
Frank Castro Jr., and his wife Mary of Killeen. She was blessed with
five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends who will all miss her greatly.
Lucille was a
true and faithful follower of the Lord. She ministered to his sheep who
came to her for counselling and prayer. She was an elder of First
Presbyterian Church in Killeen, member of Presbyterian Women of the
Church, leader and moderator of El Buen Pastor Presbyterian Church in
Austin and First Presbyterian Church in Killeen. Lucille was also an
active member of the Eastern Star Killeen Chapter #490 and the Rebekah
Lodge and LAPM. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Charles House for the
tender and loving care he gave Lucille. They would also like to thank
Tracy, Robin, Lourdes and the rest of the nursing staff of the east wing
of Bell Haven Nursing Center. "May the God of compassion, who in
Jesus Christ healed the sick, bless you who continue your work of
healing"
Visitation for family and friends was held at the Harper -
Talesek Funeral Home, 506 N. 38th Street, Killeen, Texas. A memorial
service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 3rd, at the first
Presbyterian Church, 4705 E. Rancier Ave., Killeen, Texas, with Rev.
Lydia Hernandez officiating. A reception given by the women of the
church will follow the service. While there are a few good sights
for Mexican-American, it seems that I am the only one researching those
in my family line, so it gets frustrating. But I enjoy it immensely.
