Hite --- Mrs Malinda Hite, mother of Dr.S. P. Hite, died at his residence,corner of
Lewis & Johnson streets, on the 9th inst., after a short illness from the infirmities
of advanced age, having recently passed her 90th year. Besides Dr. Hite she is
survived by her sons; H . C. Hite of Staunton, J.N. Hite, of Newport, this county,
M. L. Hite, of Kansas and her daughter, Miss Nannie E. Hite of this city.
She had long been a faithful member of Protestant Methodist church. Her remains were interred at Mt. Hermon
church, Newport, on the 11th inst. near her old residence, where a large gathering of her friends met to pay
last respects to this aged pilgrim. The funeral services were conducted by Rev.J. M. Schreckhise, assisted by
Rev.s Ballest and Freed.
