David Tanner, son of William and Mary Tanner, died at the home
of Albert Harr, in Todd township, on Sunday Feb. 28, 1913, aged 78
years, 7 months and six days.
David Tanner was born in Thompson Township, July 7, 1834, being
the eldest of four sons of William and Mary Tanner, all of which have
passed to the beyond except one son, Abraham, being the only survivor
and who resides at Lay Center, Washington state.
Mr. Tanner was a veteran in the Civil War and was engaged in some
of the most hazardous battles of it. He was three years in the service.
He was a quiet, peaceable citizen, always polite and thoughtful of the
right of others. He never married and made his home much of the
time with our townsman. James P. Waltz, Esq. His remains were interred in the Cemetery at the
Lutheran church at Big Cove Tannery,
on Tuesday 25th, inst., Revs. R.E. Peterman and J.V. royer, conducted the funeral services.
