Nicholas Derse
The death of Nicholas Derse for many years owner and manager of the
Alderley House, at Alderley, and widely known throughout the vicinity,
occurred on Tuesday, May 23, 1916, at his home in Milwaukee.
Mr. Derse was born seventy-one years ago in the town of Brookfield, Wis.,
and when four years of age came to Alderley with his parents and had spent
his entire life since in that village until his removal, about three years
ago, to Milwaukee. Mr Derse is survived by his wife and six children: Mrs Ida
M. Nelson of Racine, Mrs. Nora Rudolph of Hartford, a daughter in La Crosse,
Nicholas who resides on the old homstead at Alderly, and the misses Laura and
Helen Derse of Milwaukee.
He also is survived by seven brothers and a sister: James, John, Robert
and William Derse and Mrs John Smith of Milwaukee; Charles Derse of
Oconomowoc, George of Marinette and Florenzo Derse of Pubeblo, Colo.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at the Gesu church in
Milwaukee with interment in Holy Cross cemetery, Milwaukee.
